Inside their townhouse, Josefine has created a space that balances family life with calm, thoughtful design. At the heart of their home sits Muuto’s Outline Sofa 3-Seater in Ecriture 970, offering a place to gather, pause, and reconnect at the end of the day.

What inspired you to choose the Outline sofa ?

I’d been searching for a sofa that could fit all five of us while maintaining a sense of lightness and suiting our interior style. The rooms in our townhouse aren’t very large, so oversized furniture can easily overwhelm the space. The Outline Sofa fitted all three criteria perfectly: it’s spacious, light in appearance, and fits beautifully into the scale of our home.

Josefine Vibe “The deep green color is calming and ties together the different elements in the space, from the warm terracotta-tiled floor to the blue Rölakan vintage rug and the artwork on the walls.”

How does it fit into your daily life?

The sofa sits on our ground floor, the heart of our home where we spend most of our time. It’s where we naturally wind down after long days—coming home from work and picking up the kids from kindergarten—and it becomes the natural centerpiece when the kids play imaginary games. When we have friends over for dinner, the sofa area becomes the obvious gathering spot for coffee and conversations, making it an essential part of our daily life.

Do you have any personal rituals or habits connected to this spot?

Every morning, I try to wake up before the kids, make myself a coffee, and sit on the sofa with the door open, listening to the natural sounds of the morning. That quiet moment of tuning in gives me a peaceful start, which mostly follows me throughout the day. Right next to the sofa sits a vase that holds special meaning—it was a gift from my husband. I really love flowers and try to prioritize having them in the house. It’s such an easy way to bring nature inside, and something about seeing them always makes me feel calm and happy.

Can you share a recent moment here that felt especially meaningful to you?

I love to read books and I am very keen on passing this love along to my children, so we spend a great amount of time reading and talking about what and who we encounter in the books. This is mostly done in a cosy setting in the sofa, where the kids take turns on choosing a book.

Josefine Vibe “These moments of presence are some that I really cherish and know that I will look back at when the kids are all grown up.”

In what ways has the sofa shaped your sense of home and belonging?

When growing up, I spent a lot of time with my family in our living rooms, in which the sofa was the centerpiece. Some of my dearest childhood memories took place in this setting. Though a sofa at its core is simply a piece of furniture, it can still hold a deep sense of home, connected to meaningful conversations, laughter and fun.

“I already see now how our sofa plays a key part in my own children’s daily activities and routines, which to me brings a feeling of home.”
