invisible to the naked eye

In any space and often impossible to see, chemicals are emitted into the air. These emissions come from all kinds of objects in our everyday lives. The type of emissions that can have an adverse effect on our health contain what’s called Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). In fact, the majority of VOCs can be found at home — in certain types of soaps, perfume and cosmetics, cleaning products and disinfectants, fuel, paint, plastic and the like.

voc tested for healthier indoor climates

At Muuto, we want our furniture to enhance your surroundings, while at the same time, creating healthier indoor climates. That’s why we go to great lengths to have our furniture tested. Most of Muuto's furniture is tested according to the ANSI BIFMA M7.1 standard. So far, the vast majority of our furniture collection is VOC tested.

VOC tested textiles

To help ensure that our upholstered designs are safe even for use in schools and healthcare facilities, more than 95% of all our textiles (supplied by Kvadrat) hold the GREENGUARD Gold Certificate. Initially developed by evaluating children’s sensitivities to chemicals, it represents some of the most stringent criteria in the industry for limiting VOC emissions and the use of harmful chemicals.
